ARTICLE 1. BOARD OF HEALTH

The city health officer shall:

(a)   Cause health investigations and inspections to be made as required by the laws of Kansas and of the city;

(b)   Make recommendations and reports to the City Code Compliance Board;

(c)   Make all health reports required by the State Department of Health and Environment, Division of Health;

(d)   Prepare an annual health report of the city for submission to the governing body;

(e)   Make reports regarding Health Nuisances (Article 2), violation of the Environmental Code (Article 2A), Junked Motor Vehicles (Article 3) and Weeds (Article 4) to the Code Compliance Board.

(f)   Perform such other duties as may be required of him or her under the laws of the State of Kansas or of the city.

There shall be established a Code Compliance Board for the City of Auburn:

(a)   The Code Compliance Board shall be comprised of the City Clerk, the City’s Building Inspector (or Public Officer) and the Chief of Police (or acting head of the Police Department). At all times the Board shall be comprised of three members in their respective positions, or as appointed by the Mayor until a replacement is duly appointed and authorized.

(b)   The Code Compliance Board shall be authorized to direct inspection or review of any property within the city limits and to request reports or statements of any city officers authorized to investigate or otherwise determine violations of the City Code under Chapter 4 or Chapter 8 of the City Code.

(c)   The Code Compliance Board shall report directly to the City Council regarding actions taken as may be necessary in its discretion, or as required by the City Code to pursue actions under the Code.
